Have a Gap Between Your Teeth? Your Cosmetic Dentist Can Help!

Unfortunately, gaps between the teeth aren’t nearly as endearing in adults. If you have a bit of extra space between two of your pearly whites, you may be looking for a solution that will streamline your smile and help you love what you see in the mirror. Reaching your goal begins with a visit to your cosmetic dentist in Ponte Vedra Beach, who has a few techniques at their disposal that may be able to help you.

Invisalign

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that gradually moves your teeth into their proper positions. It is often a good choice for people whose misalignment is severe enough to threaten their oral health. Treatment time takes about a year on average and requires that you wear clear thermoplastic aligners for 20 – 22 hours each day.

Many adults choose Invisalign as their orthodontic treatment because it is so discreet and comfortable. It even lets you eat and drink what you want, and there are no metal brackets and wires to negotiate around when you’re cleaning your teeth.

Porcelain Veneers

Unlike Invisalign, porcelain veneers from your dentist in Ponte Vedra Beach don’t actually move your teeth to close that annoying gap. However, they can disguise the gap so no one who meets you will have any clue that your teeth aren’t perfect.

Veneers are very thin pieces of porcelain that your dentist attaches to the fronts of your teeth. They’re effective at covering minor misalignment, and they’re a fantastic choice for anyone who desires more out of their smile makeover than the elimination of a gap. They can also cover discoloration, cracks and chips, and more. On average, veneers can last for a decade or more before they need to be replaced.

Dental Bonding

With dental bonding, your dentist applies a tooth-colored resin to your teeth to reshape them. This treatment is a bit faster and less expensive than veneers, and the results can be absolutely stunning. However, the resin doesn’t resist breakage and stains as well as porcelain and will probably only last for five to seven years or so.

Which Is Right for You?

The best method to close the gap between your teeth depends on a few factors. Invisalign should be your top choice if your tooth misalignment is a threat to your oral health. It’s also the most permanent solution of the ones we’ve listed. Insurance may even help to cover part of the cost.

On the other hand, if your gap is just a cosmetic issue, veneers or bonding may be better because they produce results much quicker than Invisalign, and they require fewer visits to your dentist.
